Dear Joe and Melissa,

Thank you both for your response.
I can ponder on the following

> For staff members, the interests of the students (aka
> "the school") are primary, and their own pursuits are
> secondary. For students, the situation is reversed.

(hey in looking at this again, I see the double interest of both. The student
has some interest in "the school" and a primary interest in their own
pursuits - I just flashed on that - thanks)

I think you both agree that staff do have a "role" in being available and
"present".
I was a little confused as to who might practice "The Art of Doing Nothing",
if staff were simply like every other member of the community. I think I see
now that staff does have a "role" beyond their own self determination (to use
Milissas' phrase). And that one way to "model the way things are done at a
Sudbury School", could be to consider practicing the "The Art of Doing
Nothing".

Thank You
Deep Regard,
Bill Richardson
