Dear Jeanne,

>From the website of the Second Foundation School, they write:

"You may see a group of students reading books in the play hours".

At Sudbury Valley, there would be no attempt to designate certain hours of
the day as "play hours". The children are trusted to arrange and pursue their
own activities. Further, any and all characterizations of their activities
(such as describing their activities as play) would also be left up to the
children themselves. At Sudbury Valley, absent any violations of the norms of
the community, the children do as they wish.

Regards,
Bill Richardson
