I think it depends on the type of church. Science of Mind, Unity and
Unitarian are very open minded people in general and if headed by an open
minded pastor, it can be a positive way to begin. It's better than no
school. As Joe said you can have checks and balances and do your best to
keep the philosophy intact.
We looked into renting space at some other churches that were fundamental
and way too judgmental for us to even remotely consider. As I said above,
it's a way to begin and gather steam which IMHO is better than no beginning
at all.
